Common questions

Golf questions

  • Steel versus graphite shafts in irons?

Steel is heavier, stiffer, and gives more feedback; most low-handicap players prefer it for distance control. Graphite is lighter, dampens vibration, and adds clubhead speed for slower swings. Most senior and women's sets ship graphite by default. Each iron PDP lists shaft material, flex (R, S, X), and weight in grams.

  • Ball compression — does it actually matter?

Yes, but maybe not the way marketing implies. Lower compression balls (50 to 70) compress more easily for slower swing speeds; higher compression (90+) is built for higher swing speeds. Modern multilayer construction has narrowed the gap, so feel and short-game spin matter more than raw compression number for most golfers.

  • Wedge bounce — what loft and bounce should I carry?

Bounce is the angle between the leading edge and the sole. Low bounce (4 to 8 degrees) works for tight lies and firm sand. High bounce (10 to 14 degrees) works for soft sand and fluffy lies. Most amateurs carry 50, 54, and 58 degree wedges with mid bounce (8 to 10 degrees). Each wedge PDP lists loft, bounce, and grind.
