What goggle lens VLT do I need?

VLT (visible light transmission) describes how much light a lens lets through. 0 to 25 percent VLT is for full sun. 25 to 60 percent is variable conditions. 60 percent and above is low light, snow, and night skiing. Most goggles ship with one lens; a quick-change second lens for the other condition is the most useful upgrade.

Helmet certifications — what to look for?

ASTM F2040 is the U.S. standard for snowsport helmets. EN 1077 is the European standard. Every modern helmet meets one or both. After any meaningful impact, replace the helmet even if it looks fine; EPS liners absorb impact by deforming permanently.

Do I need a helmet camera mount or MIPS?

Accepted Answer

MIPS adds rotational-impact protection by letting the liner slide a few millimeters relative to the shell. The evidence base for MIPS is strongest for oblique impacts. Camera mounts are convenience features. Both are listed independently on every helmet PDP so you can prioritize.
