Board flex — soft, medium, or stiff?

Soft flex (1 to 4 on a 10 scale) is forgiving and great for park, jib, and beginners. Medium (4 to 7) is the all-mountain default. Stiff (7 to 10) holds an edge at speed and rewards aggressive carving on hardpack and steeps. Pick by where you actually ride, not where you aspire to ride.

Question 2

Binding mounting systems — are they all compatible?

Accepted Answer

No. Most boards use a 4x4 or 2x4 hole pattern that takes any standard disc. Burton's channel system uses a sliding rail and needs Burton EST bindings or a re-engineered disc. Each binding PDP lists which mounting systems it ships discs for, so you can confirm before checkout.

Boa lacing versus traditional laces?

Accepted Answer

Boa systems are faster to dial in and let you tighten the upper and lower zones independently. Traditional laces are cheaper, easier to repair on the road, and let you fine-tune pressure exactly where you want. Most riders pick by preference; both deliver competitive performance. Each boot PDP lists the lacing system and the number of zones.
